Week 21 - Sonoma Valley

Hola todos!!!

This week was good! I feel like I say that in every email but oh well it was! Monday was a good pday we went to the Mexican market and watched meet the Mormons! We also visited with a member named Xochilt who is just the best and I even got to teach the restoration for the third time!!!! It was awesome I hope we find a lot of people to teach this transfer so I can learn more about that. The first vision has so much power to it!

On Tuesday we ended up finding more people to teach we had some random lessons and I got to teach the restoration multiple times that day as well!! Super cool. Tuesday was kind of a hard day for me and the Lords hand is in our lives I can testify of that for sure. When I look back I can see him holding me up that day and can see the things that he placed in the day to make it better! He's always watching out for us and is always always there even if we don't realize it at first.

Wednesday we did service! We mulched a park it was just grand. It wasn't too hot and there was shade so it was good!  I caught a huge lizard, it was fantastic.  One of the sisters started screaming and called it a snake but um snakes don't have legs so I picked it up. I got to know a new sister in our zone who majored in piano performance at BYUI before she came out! We had some of the same teachers it was super cool!!

We also went on exchanges this week, Hermana Garcia and I went with Hermana Lewis and it was super fun! We tracted and taught an interesting family that wasn't exactly what I would call open to the message but it was fun and Hispanics are always so nice they gave us a parting soda as we left. We also did a bunch of service this week and helped mulch a huge park! That was fun and the weather was pretty nice! At least for me some people said it was hot and I was like umm it's like 80 degrees with a breeze and no humidity this is fantastic. :) And we had a lesson with one of my favorite families! The Moreno family they are so amazing and it makes me so happy when they come to church!! We had a good lesson with them and Hermano Moreno said that closing prayer, it took some convincing but he did, and I think it was something powerful for him and his wife.

Friday we had to get an oil change so we had to drive a ways to Napa. Turns out there is a thing called bottle rock here, not quite sure what it is. But it created quite the line of traffic. We sat in it for a good hour and a half at least it was the greatest missionary work ever. And then when we were leaving to go back home one of the workers at the tire place gave my companion his number, it was awesome. He was way older than her. :) But we did get some tracting in that day and a lesson so all was well!

Sunday our investigator Anthony came to sacrament meeting and also an inactive we visit every week named Maria!! It was so great to see her there. I've seen her since I've been in Sonoma and she has made a lot of progress, slowly but surely! A testament that you truly can never give up on ANYONE!! We also lost our phone twice that day and it made for stressful situations but all worked out.

I started the Book of Mormon again this week too! I'm going through and looking for all the instances where someone has a change of heart. And let me tell you I don't think there is a page that is left blank! It's amazing to read looking for one specific thing the spirit really guides you to see the instances and helps you learn the things you need to know!

One of the first things I noticed was that Laman and Lemuel complained because they were confused as to why they had to leave Jerusalem and it dawned on me that maybe Nephi was confused too. It says that he was troubled but instead of complaining he went and asked the Lord to help him understand and the Lord blessed him and changed his heart. It is important to notice that the change of heart didn't come until AFTER Nephi acted and asked.

So I challenge you all to pick one thing you want to go through the Book of Mormon for and do it! You will be amazed! What an amazing powerful book we have and what a blessing the spirit and revelation are for us!

I love you all dearly and hope your week was good!!! If there's anything I can do for you let me know!! Have a great great week this week!!! Que le vía bien.

Con muchisimo amor

Week 20 - Sonoma Valley

Hola todos!!

Como estado??? This week has been good!! I'm in a trio now!! It's definitely a different atmosphere than just having one companion but it's super fun! Hermana Garcia is so so awesome!! She is super super funny and sassy too!! And she has already helped me a ton with Spanish!

This week has been a lot of finding still! It's hard to find people right now with everyone at school and work but I say it each week haha but it's all in the Lords PERFECT timing. We meet new people each day. We are still trying to get into the swing of things as a trio but it is so fun! We have apart everyday.

We did see our investigator Anthony this week! He is working a ton now so it's hard to catch him and we found a couple more people finding that we are going to go back to see! I'm excited I haven't taught a ton of lessons yet so I'm excited to learn more in that aspect. We also found a couple more people we are going back to visit!! I also love Spanish and want to just learn it and speak it. Our district meetings are now in Spanish which will help me a lot!! Also everyone don't take for granted your garbage disposals they are amazing inventions use them daily with appreciation.

Saturday was a good day! We were able to visit a couple people and we talked with a member named Erika for a while about the Book of Mormon! It was a really cool discussion it truly is another testament of Christ!

Hermana Garcia also taught us how to make some Mexican food and it was the greatest thing ever. We also got super legit fresh produce from the garden we do service at that made some amazing salad! This week has been crazy really. Transfers and getting use to a trio a lot has happened but we didn't teach as much as we wanted to but we have good goals set for next week!!

I was also able to finish the Book of Mormon again this week! I said it already but oh how true it is! It is a companion to the Bible that gives us the fullness of Christ gospel! A gospel that I love and have the opportunity to spread everyday here in Sonoma! God is in our lives every single minute, this is something I realize more and more each day, and the Book of Mormon is a blessing that we have been given as a guide and comfort! I love you all and this gospel so much and hope you are all doing well!

Week 19 - Sonoma Valley

Hola mis amigos!

Zone Bowling Day
It was a good week! Monday as a zone we went bowling and that was pretty fun! Tuesday we kicked into gear. My companion and I have been making a list of all the former investigators and were trying to visit them this week! So we finalized our list and started finding.

One of our members Hermana Peña was in the hospital this week so we went and visited her and couple times and were there when the elders gave her a blessing! It was cool to watch she said that she slept super good after the blessing and woke up feeling a lot better and was discharged the day after that! She is super funny and so sweet so it was good to see her get better!

Coco Cream ( Mexican Ice Cream)
Also we made tostadas with the meat, beans, guac, cheese everything and they were delicious. Yea just wanted to let you know I'm like actually cooking things. :) and Hispanic ice cream is also the best thing to ever happen to me. The end.

Thursday was busy we finished blocking together all of our formers and went to work! We found three different people and set return appointments with two of them! It was amazing! We also got in some other lessons and even had a dinner with a super cute family in our ward. It was a pretty good day and I learned I've been saying a phrase in Spanish so wrong so all good things all good things! Pero I am understanding a lot more and can kind of maybe talk....? I've come to realize again how much the Lords hand is with me everyday. When I get lost he is always there to help me catch the word or phrase that helps me understand what is being discussed and I know that sometimes he just puts the thoughts right into my head of what is being said when I don't fully catch what is going on.

Friday we saw President Wright! That is always fun he is so so so amazing and I love him so much! He hinted to us that maybe we would be becoming a trio with transfers happening which was something Hermana Gudmundson and I never thought of but it was super exciting!

So Saturday night!! The big transfer day! Soooooo I'm staying in Sonoma AND I'm staying with Hermana Gudmundson AND we are getting a third companion!! I'm now in a trio! I'm super excited to get to know Hermana Garcia our new companion! She is a native so she will be teaching me so much about Spanish! Exciting things!! And Sunday I was asked to give a talk about a sister perspective on the priesthood. It was really fun to prepare for so if any of you want that you can email me and I'll send it to you! :) oh I also sang on Sunday so that was fun too and my companion and I taught young women's! What a day.

Ok I love you all so much!! New transfer here we come!! :)

Con amor,

Week 18 - Sonoma Valley

Hello!!

So this one is a short email because I just emailed out on Thursday.  But things are going good. The temple was so awesome!!

Saturday was a day of straight service. Literally. We weeded and planted at a school in the rain from 8-11 and then helped a guy in our ward move stuff to his storage unit because he is moving until 4. It was busy and tiring and did I mention raining? It was super fun though and dinner that night was tostadas they were delicious.

We then tracted for an hour and a half which was just the most joyous time in the world. This week my companion and I have a lot of time for finding people this week. We are praying we can find those prepared so if you could please pray that we can find those ready or in need of the message!! :) It should be a good week. It's the last week of this transfer which is super duper weird and sad.

I also tried a white chocolate snickers hot chocolate on Saturday and it was muy muy Bueno!

On Sunday I got to talk to my family. I can't explain how happy this made me it was the best thing in the entire world to get to talk to them again! So hold your families close they are everything! Anyway things are good here in Sono

ma! I hope you all are doing well and that you all had a super good Mother's Day!! Te quiero mucho!!

Con amor,

Hermana Foster
